Introduction
The southern side of Chilliwack, mainly the area of Sardis,
Vedder, and Garrison is probably one of the most diverse neighborhoods inside
of Chilliwack, BC. From a booming housing community rich with condos,
apartments, and brand new homes, to a flourishing outdoor shopping hub. These
sites are bordered by Chilliwack’s rising Educational Park which, Business
Chilliwack’s Community Profile Reports as having “several major institutions
including the RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre (PRTC), Canadian Police College,
Justice Institute of BC (JIBC), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA),
University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), and the Agriculture Centre of Excellence
(ACE).”1This neighborhood cannot be mentioned without the inclusion of its recreational
areas, such as the Garrison dog park, the Twin Rinks skating facility, a public
library, and the world renown Vedder River which is consistently used for
biking, jogging, and angling which www.tourismchilliwack.com adimently suggests
is “the most popular river on the lower mainland.”2
